Life changing experiences at an incredible value
The Colorado Jazz Ambassadors is a supplementary program to a student’s school band. All CJA members must be enrolled in their school band program (homeschool students excepted), and we expect our students to keep their commitments to school-sponsored music activities.
Intermediate / Middle School Band
August – May, 35-week school-year session
$775 — $77.50 monthly for 10 months

An investment of less than $20 per week allows our intermediate jazz musicians to receive world-class direction in a program meant to nurture students not only as musicians, but as humans.
Students Receive:
- Professional direction by Doug Tidaback in big-band rehearsals
- Weekly mentorship and coaching from older musicians
- Free opportunities to interact and learn from professionals at rehearsals and monthly jam sessions
- Age- and skill-appropriate time commitment
advanced / high school band
August – May, 35-week school-year session
$1,400 — $140 monthly for 10 months

$1,300 – paid in advance
An investment of less than $35 per week allows our more experienced jazz musicians to hone their improvisational skills, ensemble playing, musical techinques, and practice skills, all while playing with some of the best high school jazz musicians in the Denver area. Auditions may be required.
Students Receive:
- Weekly small-group coaching from Denver-area professional jazz musicans
- Professional direction by Doug Tidaback in big-band rehearsals
- Free opportunities to participate in monthly jam sessions
- Annual chance to travel to a national high school jazz band festival and interact with internationally recognized recording artists (additional travel fees required – see below*)
Summer Camp
June – July, 6-week summer camp
$420 — $105 monthly for 4 months

An investment of less than $75 per week delivers up to seven hours of intensive jazz learning for students of all ages and ability levels. Local professionals will help students develop better practice skills and ensemble playing, all while learning the language of jazz improvisation.
THE SUMMER CAMP WILL CULMINATE WITH AN OUT-OF-STATE TRIP TO IMMERSE OUR PARTICIPANTS IN THE CULTURE OF JAZZ MUSIC and JAZZ PERFORMANCE (additional travel fees required – see below*).
In past years, programs led by Mr. Tidaback have traveled to New Orleans, Europe, Disneyland, and cruises out of Southern California.

SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE
We believe financial limitations should not separate a willing child from the life-long benefits of musical education. The Colorado Jazz Ambassadors provide need-based scholorships on a first-come, first-served basis.
*TRAVEL INFORMATION
Travel opportunities for the Advanced / High School Band and the Summer Camp Band are estimated at $1,200 per person. This includes the cost of transportation, hotel (three studends per room), meals, musical entertainment / experiences, festival entry fees, and chaperones.
Advanced /High School Band members may pay for travel in equal $120 installments over the 10-month session period.
Summer Band members pay pay for travel in equal $300 installments over a 4-month period in advance of summer travel.
Need-based scholarship assistance may be available.
